de MOWBRAY'S MUSICKE
- Medieval and Renaissance music, song and dance
We play Medieval and Renaissance music on a variety of reproduction historical instruments to create the sound and atmosphere of England as it was in the 15th and 16th centuries. Many of the instruments from that period have a magnificent and very evocative sound, a sound we aim to revive. So, our instruments range from quiet renaissance recorders, through the curiously curved crumhorn to loud shawms and English bagpipes, with an occasional stringed instrument thrown in. We also sing and teach and display dances of that time.
Kate Billmore: shawms, curtal, bagpipes, recorders, crumhorns, cornemuse, harp, psaltery
Peter Barnard: shawms, bagpipes, recorders, crumhorns, rauschpfeife, cornemuse, pipe and tabor, hammer dulcimer, harp
Andy Casserley: shawms, bagpipes, recorders, crumhorns, guitar, symphonie, rebec, gittern, citole, gemshorn, pipe and tabor
